In "German: Basic Course" students will read the textbook on German grammar for beginners, and practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking in German. In the "Course 1" students exercise pronunciations and learn expressions for daily life. With visual materials they will touch German culture and history.
During the yearlong practice, students will develop the elementary knowledge and skills needed for communication in German.
In this quarter they should understand the elements of short sentences. They can also acquire the understanding of foreign culture.
In this course students will be able to:

A German-Japanese dictionary is necessary. (You can choose your comfortable dictionary.) The other materials for practice are given in the classes.
The scores are based on final (and midterm) exams (60%) and exercises in classes (40%).
No prerequisites. The enrollment in the related courses is desirable. Through "German: Basic Course 1-4" you can overview the German grammar. "Introduction to Foreign Language 1, 2" encourage your understanding of language and culture in Germany.
