Course description and aims

"Chinese: Basic Course" is intended for students who have no knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. The course will begin with the exercise of the Chinese Pinyin Romanization system: tones, rules of phonetic spelling, and pronunciation drill. We also learn simple conversation and basic grammar, to build up rudimentary communication ability of Chinese. As the fourth step, at "beginner's class 4", we will learn the various complements, prepositions, conjunctions and complex sentences, to grasp basic grammar of Chinese, acquire four skills of Chinese to write to read to speak to hear. In addition, by using the supplementary materials, we will touch the cultural and social background of the China, will also to help students to have a better understanding of Chinese society and culture.
