This course is designed for the graduate students who have learnt the Chinese phonological system, basic conversational topics, vocabulary and grammar. The main course objective for Chinese culture and society is to refine and further develop students’ abilities with spoken and written communication in Chinese, at same time, this course also expands what students know about Chinese culture and provides them with an introduction to modern Chinese society, and help them to have a better understanding of the relationship between China and Japan.
At the end of this course, students will have increased their knowledge about Chinese culture and society, develop students’ abilities with spoken and written communication in Chinese. This course also encourages learners to develop lifelong skills, including: the ability to use a foreign language as a means of practical communication• a positive attitude towards language learning, towards the speakers of other languages, and towards other cultures and civilizations

At the beginning of each class, the instructor will explain the essential points of the class, students are required to read the articles of Chinese and translate it into Japanese,. Towards the end of class, students are given exercise problems related to what is taught on that day., The instructor shows solutions to the exercise problems, and give students homework to write compositions, will check it every other week.
