Aims of this course is that students acquire knowledge about other cultures as well as skills to research the topic of their choice and communicate their ideas about it in English. The class consists of the tutor's mini-lecture, students' group work and discussion, and their presentations. Students will choose the topic of their interest and practice summary, debate and presentation skills.

(1) Each student chooses an article to share with other students in class (presentation skills). (2) They understand the content of the article. (3) They check their comprehension (main points of the argument, topic sentence, etc.) and discuss in a form of debate (debate skills). (4) Feedback to class. (5) Tutor's comments and Q&A session.

Class 3 | Academic Presentation Practice 2、English elocution workshop | Students improve their presentation skills based on the feedback received in Week 2. Students review the rules involving English elocution to improve their pronunciation in delivering speeches. |
Class 4 | Debate Skills: Introduction, Training Session 1 | Students sbmit the corrected script of your presentation. Students practice debate skills and receive feedback from their peers and tutors. Review the basics of debate skills |
Class 5 | Debate Skills: Training Session 2 | Students improve their debate skills based on the feedback received in Week 4. |
Class 6 | Styles in English languages, Diversity in English languages | Students submit the scripts/notes for the two debates. Students learn different writing styles in English and the varieties of English languages. |
Class 7 | Final exam and review | Students are given feedback on their performance. |
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
