「アカデミックプレゼンテーション」のコースはすべて、さまざまな学問的な場でプレゼンテーションをおこなうための技能訓練を目的とする。実践的な練習を通じて、学生はこうした技能を効果的に発表に適用し、自信をもって多様な状況に対応するための知識を修得する。自分の考えを明晰に伝えるための戦略を学べるよう、教員は建設的なフィードバックをおこなう。さらに、学生は聴衆としても、仲間に対して洞察力のある刺激的な質問ができるよう、リスニングの技能を磨く。
400番台の選択科目として、「アカデミックプレゼンテーション第十六」は、大学院生が豊富な知識に基づくプレゼンテーションをおこなうために必要な技能を身につけることを目指す。
コース終了時には、学生はアカデミックな場で一人でプレゼンテーションをおこない、質疑応答をこなすことができる。また、言語によるメッセージと非言語のメッセージをともに意識しつつ、聴衆を惹きつける発表をおこない、発表後は聴衆からの質問にも巧みに答えることができる。

The course will guide students through the process of giving a presentation on topics related to their field of study. Classroom exercises will focus on developing skill sets to present in a professional setting and make the subject matter accessible to both specialist and non-specialists.
