Course description and aims

The objective of this short-term intensive program is to train students in such a way as to increase their abilities in English oral expression, to the point where they can participate in tertiary education in the English-speaking world. The class is titled “Oral Expression in English GII-1”, and is directed at undergraduates. This is an English elective subject, and participants are eligible to receive 2 units of credit.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to speak for several minutes by themselves or in dialogues on a range of topics, paying attention to their own pronunciation issues.

Class flow

This five-day intensive course is designed for students looking for a forum that will allow them to speak English on a wide array of topics. It will be student-centered and (very) active participation will be expected. The general daily format is discussion/debate with presentations at the end of the day. Aside from general fluency, other areas that will be addressed include: critical thinking skills, presentation skills, listening skills, and vocabulary building. If you are looking for a fun but challenging class, this may be what you are looking for.
