Course description and aims

There are two kinds of classes in English 9: “English 9 without class attendance” and “English 9 for repeaters”. This class is “English 9 without class attendance”.

Credit is given to those who have achieved or exceeded the minimum required score set by Tokyo Tech in one of the following tests, and who have submitted their score as instructed.
・The TOEFL ITP test conducted by the Tokyo Tech Student Division in the third academic year
・TOEFL iBT tests, TOEFL ITP tests, and official TOEIC Listening and Reading tests that students take in or after their third academic year.

This course aims at comprehensively improving students’ English skills so that they should be able to achieve a TOEFL or TOEIC score well above the required minimum.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
・ attain comprehensive general English proficiency.
・ achieve or exceed the minimum required score set by Tokyo Tech in one of the tests listed above.

Class flow

Students MUST attend one of the orientation sessions in the first week of the third quarter. No attendance is necessary apart from that one compulsory orientation session. See the notice board on the third floor, West 3 Building, Ookayama Campus, for further details. If you have any questions, come to the Administrative Office of the Foreign Languages Section (Room 805, 8th floor, West 3 Building, Ookayama Campus) or the Student Services Division, Suzukakedai Campus.
