講義の概要とねらい
この授業はTOEFLをまったく知らないあるいは受験したことがない学生向けのTOEFL入門の授業である。英語の四技能のうち、特に聴解力と発話力の基礎力を磨きながら、TOEFLのテスト形式になれることを目指す。また短期留学に必要な基礎的な語彙を学ぶ。
到達目標
・TOEFLの出題形式や内容に親しむこと。
・クラス内でのペアワークやグループワークを通して聴解力と発話力を向上させること。
・短いスピーチや会話を聴き、要点を理解したうえでその要点を短文で要約し英語を使って表現することができる。

授業の進め方
This course is designed to help students develop communication skills that are applicable to the TOEFL iBT test. Each week, we will explore a different issue using audio lectures, readings, and discussion. In addition, there will be quizzes that are designed to help students expand their academic vocabulary. Throughout the course, students will also learn to develop intercultural competence, one of the most important skills needed to be able to collaborate with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Class participation: 35% (Evaluation will be based on attitude, contribution, improvement, and a willingness to learn.)
Vocabulary quizzes: 25%
