講義の概要とねらい
すべての「英語スピーキング演習」の科目は、その名のとおり、学生の話す力を伸ばすことを目標としている。発表以外の場においては、効果的に話すためには効果的に聞くことも必要となることから、これらの科目の授業や宿題においては、互いに話し合う練習やきちんと聞く練習を行う。
学士課程３００番台の選択科目である「英語スピーキング演習第九」は２００番台の選択科目よりもより難度の高い授業を提供する。２人や小グループの話者の間で聞き話すことを通じて、一般的な関心事項に関して効果的な口頭によるコミュニケーションを行うことに焦点を当てる。また、教科書や授業で導入された単語や文法が使えるようにすることも、授業の目標のひとつである。
到達目標
この授業科目を履修することにより、学生は、小グループや一対一の対話において、日本やいくつかの外国についての重要な社会的、経済的、社会政治学的問題を話し合う経験を得ることができる。

授業の進め方
This is designed to be a very student centered/interactive class with students discussing and debating various topics. New vocabulary and grammar will be routinely introduced to enable students to articulate ideas more clearly and to facilitate discussion.
