講義の概要とねらい
TOEFLのReadingとWritingの各セクションの試験形式・内容に留意しつつ、英語力を向上させる。
TOEFLのReading SectionおよびWriting Sectionの得点を向上させると共に、英語圏の大学で教育を受けるのに必要な英語力を身につけることを目指す。
到達目標
この授業科目は、次のような知識や能力を身につけることを目指す。
・readingおよびwriting セクションを中心にTOEFLテストがどのようなもので、好成績を残すにはどのように取り組めば良いかを理解する。
・学問分野における英語の知識を広げると共に、英語の全般的なreadingとwritingの力を身につける。

授業の進め方
We continue to explore various issues using readings, audio lectures, and discussions. Students are expected to study the vocabulary, complete all readings, and come to class prepared to express their opinions. In addition, there will be quizzes that are designed to help students expand their academic vocabulary.

成績評価の基準及び方法
The grade for the quarter will be determined as follows.
Class participation: 10% (Evaluation will be based on attitude, contribution, improvement, and a willingness to learn.)
Vocabulary Quiz: 15%
News Brief: 15%
In-class writing assignment: 30%
Exam: 30%
