講義の概要とねらい
すべての「英語スピーキング演習」の科目は、その名のとおり、学生の話す力を伸ばすことを目標としている。発表以外の場においては、効果的に話すためには効果的に聞くことも必要となることから、これらの科目の授業や宿題においては、互いに話し合う練習やきちんと聞く練習を行う。
１００番台の選択科目である「英語スピーキング演習第二」は、「英語スピーキング演習第一」の学習形式を踏襲し、特に、２人の話者の間で聞き話すことを通じて効果的な口頭によるコミュニケーションを行うことを目指す。また、教科書や授業で導入された単語や文法が使えるようにすることも、授業のねらいのひとつである。
到達目標
この授業科目を履修することにより、学生は、それまでに会ったことのない人との１対１の会話において、暮らしや経験の中のある特定の側面について話すために必要な新たな単語や句を身につけることができる。

授業の進め方
This is designed to be a student centered/interactive course with students discussing and debating on various topics. New vocabulary and grammar will be routinely introduced to enable students to articulate ideas more clearly and to facilitate discussions. (Note: Attendance is taken at each class. Assignments turned in late are penalized. Syllabus is subject to change based on the levels, needs, and actual number of students.)
