Course description and aims
In this course, we will take up the social system of early modern Japan.
You will study the historical background of modern social structure.
Student learning outcomes
１）To learn the social system of Japanese early modern history and compare it with modern society.
２）To understand the relationship between historical description and literary works.

Class flow
１）Topic changes every two lessons.２）At the beginning of each class, you will be given short comments on previously submitted reports and question.３）Towards the end of class, you will be given a short report related to what is taught on that day.

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
