The aim of the class is to summarize one's thought into a better essay through the following three activities: deliberating connections between a student's major and the world and her/his own roles, responsibilities, and ethics in the connections, improving one's writing skill through understanding academic writing, and peer-reviewing.
By the end of this class, students will be able to identify the connections between a student’s major and the world and her/his own roles, responsibilities, and ethics in the connections, acquire academic writing and critical thinking skills and provide appropriate peer review advice. Also, they will be able to improve the evaluation and criticism of sentences.

In the first half of classes, students aim to acquire writing skills. In the second half, each student sets a theme of the "Final Report" and practice peer review while receiving assistance from graduate students, i.e., peer review practical class, in order to brush up the report through peer review and to improve writing skills.
Lesson progress may vary slightly from class to class.
The theme of the final thesis in English will be announced in the class.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterward (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Instructors will score based on the completion of all the homework tasks and the final report (60 points) and peer review activity (40 points).
If you do some misconduct behaviors in the process of taking this class such as plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification, instructors will never qualify the course as a credit. Instructors will use a software package which detects plagiarized phrases. Mid-term submissions are mandatory.
If you miss over four classes, you will not acquire the credit for the course. Two late arrivals count as one absence. You will not be able to enter the class if you are late for more than 15 minutes (count as one absence).
Third grade or higher may take this course.
