Course description and aims

Overview  In this lecture, first let students deepen their basic understanding of "media". Then learn about the significance of media and journalism in the field of science and technology. The 21st century is the era when science and technology have the leading role. That is why science and technology and its achievements are constantly gaining attention as media coverage. People involved in science and technology are required to have advanced media adaptability. They are also required to actively disseminate information via media. Therefore, anyone who walks in the path of science and technology needs to acquire media literacy. In this lecture, I will cover actual stories of accidents and incidents related to science and technology, and consider the relationship between science & technology and media. Learn the basics of "science journalism" where trained scientists report the stories. In the lecture, media personnel and journalists engaged in the work of science and technology coverage will be invited.

Aims Have the students acquire the basic education about the media and have them deepen their understanding of the relationship between science and media. Ask them to deepen their understanding of science journalism and to be able to disseminate information themselves.

Class flow

Please read the important contents of the remote class below.
Each lesson starts in real time using zoom.
After participating in the zoom class, please take the video class recorded on youtube.

The zoom address will be sent directly to the students via ocwi. We will open the zoom class from 30 minutes before the class starts, so please enter as much as you can 5 minutes before the class starts.

For each main lecture, basically pre-recorded content will be uploaded to youtube. After viewing this youtube recorded lecture, submit the "Reflection Report" from ocwi with the "assignment number", "affiliation name" and "your name" in the form of "assignment". It will be the attendance and evaluation points.
The URL of each youtube lecture will be announced by ocwi before class hours.
There are times when we call guest lecturers. At this time, we plan to conduct classes in real time with zoom.

Students who have difficulty attending the course, such as when the video environment cannot be played due to insufficient internet environment, will accept questions via email. Please let me know.
