This is a blended learning course where students study online course materials in order to learn about educational technology (Edtech) and apply the knowledge they have gained to create an online course module on a topic they wish to teach to other students. This course is supported in part by Tokyo Tech Online Educational Development Office (OEDO) and periodically may use its facilities. English communication ability is required for this class. Students will learn about educational technology i.e. online learning (MOOCs, online courses) by studying online learning materials and apply their knowledge in order to create an online learning module using the open edX content/learning management system.

online learning materials (videos) are studied on edX edge web site before class, class time is used for discussion of the online materials and for group work activity, the last class will consist of student presentations on the education module they created as final project

30% online material quizzes, 20% participation in class activities and discussion, 50% development of novel online course module
Knowledge about online learning education technology and experience with MOOCs is helpful but not required. English conversational ability is required for this course.
This is the first of a two part course series related to online learning using open edX content management system. Up to 20 students can enroll in this course. After completing the two course series, students will have the basic skills required to be a TA in OEDO and be eligible for earning a Graduate Student Teaching Assistant - Developer certificate.
