Course description and aims

The aim of this class is to practice peer review of papers by reading and critiquing papers written by you peers, while at the same time giving them valuable advice on how to improve their papers.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this class, students will be able to acquire critical thinking skills, provide appropriate peer review advice, and faciitate peer review activity.

Class flow

Instructors will give instructions on how to begin peer review activities in the first four classes, then students review peer's essay. This class supports facilitating peer review in undergraduate students' class.

Class 2 The Chicago style and peer review of the short essay. Understand the Chicago style. Read the 1st to 3rd sections of the textbook.
Class 3 Appropriate way of supporting peer review activity Experience peer-review based on the Chicago style. Understand an appropriate way of peer review activity.
Class 4 Support face-to-face peer-review activity of undergraduate course. Understand on-ine peer review system. Understand appropriate ways of peer-review.
Class 5 On-line peer review 1. Peer-review of the essay. After the class, Support online peer-review and write a report accordingly.
Class 6 On-line peer review 2. Support online peer-review and write a report accordingly.
Class 7 On-line peer review 3. Support online peer-review and write a report accordingly.
Class 8 Summary Understand characteristics of peer-review activity and its support. Write a essay on it.
