Course description and aims

The instructor will introduce various phenomena related to the body and physical activities, explaining the underlying physiological, engineering, psychological, and social mechanisms and backgrounds.

Student learning outcomes

Students will gain an understanding of the various underlying mechanisms of physical phenomena, and be able to observe body movements from a scientific perspective.

Class 8 Hypertrophy and atrophy of skeletal muscles Understand mechanisms of hypertrophy and atrophy in skeletal muscles.
Class 9 Measuring Brain Activations  Understand fMRI and EEG, and temporal resolution and spatial resolution
Class 10 Obese and diabetes Mechanisms inducing obesity and diabetes, and prevention of them are reviewed.
Class 11 Human sciences and social factors Effect of technology on National Insurance system and anti-depressant effect of exercise are reviewed.
Class 12 Effect of exercise on our body Review on adaptation induced by regular exercise habit.
Class 13 Hormonal system and exercise, Anti-doping Understand doping and the significance of the anti-doping movement.
