Course description and aims

The principal aim of this course is that students will gain knowledge of contemporary society deemed necessary for students in the modern age when they enter the real world, including the Constitution, Japan-US Security Treaty, Japan-US relations, media literacy, the Islamic world, the US presidential elections and North Korea.

Student learning outcomes

Students will be able to have his or her own perspective to understand and judge everyday news .

Class 6 Progress in mass media technology Explain the technical advance in mass media.
Class 7 Japanese mass media Explain the influence of the emergence of new media.
Class 8 U.S. presidential election Explain the procedure and the significance of the US presidential election.
Class 9 "Islam" and "Islamic world" Explain the basic idea of Islam.
