Course description and aims

Mainly through exercises, how to choose the right research methodology, how to design research, and how to write a research report will be learned.
This course is mainly designed for students majored in Management of Technology who have no research experience. Students are expected to gain skills of how to design and proceed with research, and writing a research report.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. understand characteristics of different research methodologies
2. choose the right research methodology and design research aligned with the objective
3. understand how to write research reports

Class flow

Lectures will be carried out interactively. Also two in-class exercises will be conducted, and a group work and a presentation will be required for students.

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

TIM.E401 : Exercises in Research Literacy I is the prerequisite for this course.
There is a limitation to the number of registration (see Misc. for more).

This course requires heavy discussion and group work in Japanese; therefore, the number of students who can register to the course is limited to 25 students. The priority of registration will be given to the 2nd year MOT students, the 1st year MOT students, Innovation Science students, other course Tokyo Tech students, and any other students in this order.
