Course description and aims

Knowing what is losing its value as data and information are electronically accumulating and accessible. Comprehending essentials in diverse information and creating knowledge is currently fundamentals for value and differentiation. This course aims to understand methodology of thinking and acquire pragmatic skills including defining concepts, analyzing causality, and system thinking with exercises.
In this course, students systematically learn meta-knowledge and framework which does not depend on any specific disciplines by thinking essence of thinking, what is thinking, what are pitfalls in it. They are also trained to acquire pragmatic skills with exercise on cases in innovation and technology management.

Student learning outcomes

By this course, students will understand:
1) What concept is concept. How to define.
2) What causality is. What criteria should be met.
3) What knowledge stracture is. How to represent knowledge for business.
4) What system thinking is. How to apply it.

Class flow

At the beginning of each class, we have group presentation or explanation of reports in the last class. During the class, concepts, theory, methodology are illustrated. By the end of each class, problem and task for the next class are presented.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
