Course description and aims

Mainly through exercises, how to proceed with research, survey research literature, read research papers, and make presentation will be learned.
This course is mainly designed for students majored in Management of Technology who have no research experience. First, students are expected to learn what research is, and then they will gain some skills required for research including the critical reading skill.

2. conduct research literature survey
3. read research papers critically
4. make an effective presentation

Class flow

Lectures will be carried out interactively. Also two in-class exercises will be conducted, and a group work and a presentation will be required for students. This course is taught in Japanese.

Class 4 Exercise 1: understanding the fact-based conclusion Understand the fact-based analysis and conclusion
Class 5 Critical reading of research literature Be able to do critical reading of research literature
Class 6 Exercise 2: critical reading using two research papers Confirm that students can do critical reading by using research reports
Class 7 Effective presentation of research findings Understand the effective presentation of research findings
Class 8 Group presentation and discussion Be able to make an effective presentation

There is a limitation to the number of registration (see Misc. for more).

This course requires heavy discussion and group work in Japanese; therefore, the number of students who can register to the course is limited to 25 students. The priority of registration will be given to the 2nd year MOT students, the 1st year MOT students, Innovation Science students, other course Tokyo Tech students, and any other students in this order.
