This course aims to learn the basic concepts, tools and theories related to strategic management of technology.
Technology strategy is the process that firms use their technological resources to achieve corporate objectives. It includes changing the technology portfolio to enable the firm to adapt to changing competitive dynamics and market needs; acquisition of or access to the range of technological skills; managing R&D. The topics covered include, innovation models, sectoral models of innovation, Porter's model, technological competence building strategies, technological diversification strategy, managing R&D, globalization strategy, innovation in knowledge intensive services.
Students will acquire the knowledge and skills related to strategic management of technology including processes of strategic planning, competitor analysis, technology forecasting, technology acquisition, technological competence building in different sectors such as Information communications industry, electronics, knowledge intensive services and aircraft industries.

The course will be conducted for 1st and 2nd quarters. The students will be taught through active learning. Students will do 3 team presentations, have quizzes, write essays and are encouraged to take part in discussions.
