Course description and aims

This course is designed for students with work experience as a member of society, who have acquired credits and GAs (GA0D and GA1D) by gaining experience and achievements (including those at past employers) in work activities as a member of society in companies, etc. (including those that have continued to the present day). The course certifies that the student has already acquired the Graduate Attributes (GA) that doctoral students are required to fulfil, based on the experience and achievements (including those at past employers) of the student in the work experience as an adult member of society, etc.
In view of the content of the GAs, in principle, students should have at least five years' work experience in a company (at least three years in the case of those who have completed a master's degree). However, this does not apply to those with less than this amount of work experience, if they are deemed to already have experience and achievements that meet the GA.
The maximum number of credits that can be obtained through doctoral Recurrent Program is 4 in total. It is also possible to obtain a total of 4 credits for Doctoral Recurrent Program 1 and 3, 4 credits for Doctoral Recurrent Program 2-1 and 2-2, 4 credits for Doctoral Recurrent Program 4, etc. In such cases, the experiences and achievements for which the respective subjects are to be taken must be different.
One 1-credit course (Doctoral Recurrent Program 1), two 2-credit courses (2-1 and 2-2), one 3-credit course (3) and one 4-credit course (4) are offered in each quarter as 1Q:A, 2Q:B, 3Q:C and 4Q:D, respectively.
The total number of credits that can be obtained through 'Doctoral Recurrent Program' (including ' Doctoral Recurrent Program Advanced Practice') cannot exceed 4.

Student learning outcomes

Students with work experience in the workforce can gain credit by the course recognising that they have already acquired the GAs that doctoral students are required to fulfil, based on their previous and current work experience and performance in the workforce work activities.
GA0D: They can contribute to the realisation of innovation by clearly designing their own career and having a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, skills, social responsibilities, ethics, etc. required to be active as a member of academia and industry.
GA1D: Be able to lead the realisation of innovation by acquiring the advanced leadership, entrepreneurial, knowledge and skills, social responsibility and ethics necessary to realise the career they have designed.

Class flow

Students are required to provide information on their previous work activities as a member of society (including those that have continued to the present day), including their experience and achievements (including those at previous employers). The student shall confirm in advance with their supervisor the preparation of documents objectively proving that they have already fulfilled GA0D and GA1D and the policy on the number of credits to be obtained by the student. Examples of experience and achievements that may be considered for credit in this subject are as follows (however, this should not be duplicated in Seminar on Innovation Science).
Leadership of organisations and subordinates in business and other activities within a company.
Leadership in standardisation-related activities.
Experience of leading planning and management of events, etc. that can be demonstrated externally.
Achievements in leading presentations at academic conferences.
Experience of leading presentations at academic conferences.
Leading authorship of journals and articles
Leading authorship of reviews, commentaries, etc.
Leading achievements in patent applications.
Based on the confirmation with the above-mentioned supervisor, students should prepare the documents and submit them to the course via their supervisor. In doing so, they should not only explain that they have experience and achievements, but also explain in detail how they acquired each of the GA0D and GA1D items in their experience and achievements.
The prepared material should be submitted to the course via the student's supervisor. The course will certify the credits earned and the number of credits to be earned in the course on the basis of the documents submitted by the student. When the student has been approved for the credits earned and the number of credits to be earned in the course, the student shall declare the course in the quarter in which he/she can most recently declare the course. The course then reports the grades based on such accreditation.
If a student tries to take this subject at the end of the doctoral course, they will have to wait until after the course has been accredited before he/she can register for the course.
The course is not available for students who wish to take this course before the end of the doctoral course.
