Course description and aims

In this coursethe instructor introducet heories of visual culture studies,examining the texts written by Lev Manovich "Instagram and Contemporary Visual Culture". Students are requested to read texts. During the courses students are required to discuss on the topic of the text.This course aims to understand contemporary art through considering various topics.It also aims to understand the method of text reading.

At the end of this course students will:・learn the theory for analyzing visual images.・understand various visual images and a critical viewpoint about visual culture.・be able to explain and comment on visual images, referring theories and knowledge.

Students are requested to read the text referring the seminar. All participants will read the text before the class, and have a further discussion
