We have determined five fields ("politics, law, administration", "education, welfare, health", "culture, art", "science technology and society", "cognition, math, information") and hope students to learn interdisciplinary basic knowledge and analysis methods, and methods for integrating interdisciplinary analysis results to solve problems concerned with science and technology in our society.
For this end, this course provides students with an occasion to brings together the learning ourcomes of extensively studying humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering, and to discuss integrated use of them to solve problems that each student is interested in better than conventional solutions as the preparation to conduct the master's thesis studies.
Moreover, students who belong to different filelds will form a group and discuss solutions of problems to promote mutual understanding and collaborative learning while bringing each other's experience and knowledge into workshops, exercises, and presentation sessions.
Students will acquire the following skills from taking this course.
1) Be able to generate and explain concrete methods and their merits to use interdisciplinary research findings and methods in one's own master's thesis study.
2) Be aware of merits of learning interdisciplinary research findings and methods to heighten own competencies and abilities and be able to master self-learning methods and meta-cognitive skills for that purpose.
3) Be able to study and integrate interdisciplinary research findings and methods, share its merits with others, and execute it collaboratively in daily life.

We will hold a 2-hours guidance and four 3-hours workshops. The first and second classes will be held at the beggining of the term. The third and fourth classes will be held near the end of each quarter. The fifth class will be held at the end of the term. The portfolio used in this course is specially prepared for this course.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Assessment will be based on exercises in the lessons (60%) and the final report (40%). Criteria will be clarified in the assessment portfolio. Students who did not attend the workshop more than once or be absent from the final presentation session cannot take the credit.
