In this class, we study about gender equality policy in Japan and other countries. Promoting gender equality is important in many areas such as politics, labor and education. We compare Japan with other countries so that we can understand current Japanese situation and issues. Based on that, we will learn about related policies and analyze the effectiveness.
1) Understand how much gender gap exist in Japan and other countries, 2) Understand the characteristics and the reasons of gender gap in Japan, 3)Major policies related with gender equalities, 4) Understand how politics, economy and education affect filling and widening existing gender gaps.

In this class, students will listen to lecturers and participate in dialogues. Group discussion may also used depend on the class size. Students may have reading assignments.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
