Course description and aims

This course provides students with opportunities to be research or teaching assistants. The students are required to apply their research capabilities and expertise utilization capacities to the research or teaching practices and to gain transformational and transactional leaders’ abilities.

This course aims to cultivate the students’ ability to promote research or teaching activities through the experiences of the research or teaching assistants.

Student learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1) Know research capabilities necessary to promote research or teaching activities;
2) Know expertise utilization capacities necessary to promote research or teaching activities; and
3) Gain transformational and transactional leaders’ abilities necessary to promote research or teaching activities.

Class flow

Each student assists the instructors of colloquia, exercises, projects, or workshops and writes and submits a “Do and Check (DC) report” on the evaluation of what he/she did as an assistant. In each class, the students discuss and evaluate what they did as assistants, consider how they can improve their activities as assistants, and write and submit “Action and Plan (AP) reports” on the plans of their next activities as assistants.

Assessment will be based on: participation in classes as assistants (25% in total); “Do and Check (DC) reports” (25% in total); participation in discussion (25% in total); and “Action and Plan (AP) reports” (25% in total).
