Course description and aims

This is an introductory and intermediate class for the test theory which is one of the major area of psychometrics.

Student learning outcomes

To master the basics of classical and modern test theory.

Class 2 Classical test theory: test reliability and test validity Understanding the basic idea of classical test theory
Class 3 Item statistics and item evaluation Understanding the concept of item statistics.
Class 4 Introduction to Item Response Theory (IRT) Understanding the difference between classical models and IRT.
Class 5 Mathematical models of IRT Understanding the mathematical models of IRT.
Class 6 Test response function, information function Understanding what we can do when there is an item bank.
Class 7 Parameter estimation Understanding the method of parameter estimation: ability and item parameters
Class 8 Review Review of what we have learned.
