The fundamental theories of water flow and the impact of flow on the water environment are taught. First, based on fluid mechanics, the mathematical expression of environmental water flow is lectured. Then, modeling of the water flow in actual rivers and lakes is taught. Finally, some distinctive flows observed in the actual environment are introduced and their theoretical backgrounds are discussed.
Generally, water flow takes a dominant role in the spatial transportation of various substances in actual water environments such as rivers and lakes. This class aims to provide a foundation to understand the various phenomena occurring in the water environment.
I. Understand the fundamental equations used to describe water flow.
II. Acquire the basic knowledge about the modeling of water flow in actual rivers and lakes.
III. Learn the impacts of water flow and its transportation on the water environments.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
Based on a report submitted in the end of class, understanding of "basic theory of water flows", "modeling of water environment", and "impact of water flow on the environmental problem" are evaluated.
