This course comprehensively teaches the current status of and issues in international development cooperation projects conducted by the United Nations, NGOs and aid agencies. In addition, the so-called 'case method' is introduced as an active learning method involving group work and role playing presentations, which will use case studies on international cooperation and human development projects, based on real-life experiences of professionals. In addition to the history, background, theory, and project analysis in terms of education and human resource development, specific examples of development projects are used.
The course aims to develop the necessary skills and assets in the field of international development through the case method using the cases based on actual experiences in international development projects.
By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the basic ideas in international development, as well as to acquire the ability to think, analyze, discuss, decide, communicate and develop solutions to the problems which professionals may encounter in the field of international development.

Round tables are arranged in the classroom, and the course consists of a combination of lectures and the case method. Lectures are given based on reading assignments, and students are expected to be actively involved in the discussion. In the case method, a few assigned students are to analyze the case in advance and play the role of some of the actors based on the analysis of the case scenario, and discuss with other students about their roles.
