Course description and aims

Standards and industry are closely interlinked. Standards must be determined based on science and technology, but are frequently influenced by other societal aspects. Standards set on the basis of factors other than science and technology are not unusual. For example, almost all engineers may be confused by the co-existence of both ISO and ASME standards. Focusing on the materials used in many industries, this course provides an overview of the standard-setting process required now and in the future for the global engineer.

Student learning outcomes

This lecture enables students to understand the standard-setting process used in industry and blush up the overall knowledge necessary for the global engineer.
