[Outline]
This course covers the question of what process is followed when creating nuclear power plants in order to ensure their safety, and comprehensively covers design techniques and regulatory systems for nuclear power from a manufacturing viewpoint, making students to think about the future of nuclear power safety. Students will also think about how the society with nuclear power plants relate to nuclear power, how they have coexisted, the historical understanding, and future regional coexistence, offering as an example Fukui Prefecture, which has experienced injuries from a steam generator's heat transfer pipe, and a sodium leak accident. Students will also perform integrity tests and experiments for nuclear reactor materials, while also visiting nuclear power related facilities, learning about the response after the Fukushima plant accident and the current situation.
This 4 day intensive course is held in collaboration with Fukui University, Osaka University, etc. during summer vacation at Fukui University.
[Goals]
Students will gain an understanding of the total picture relating to the construction and operation of nuclear power plants. Students will also experience and learn the basics of experimental technology for nuclear power materials.
A student will acquire a broad perspective in order to work in the nuclear power industry.
