Course description and aims

About the nuclear security, history and legal framework, the characteristics of nuclear material and radioactive substances and graded approach for their regulation based on material attractiveness, physical protection system designing and evaluation, interfaces between nuclear safety, security and safeguards, nuclear security culture are discussed. About the nuclear non-proliferation, history and legal framework, criticality, significant quantity and conversion time of nuclear material, safeguards and its science and technology, nuclear material accounting and control, Japan's effort, CTBT, proliferation resistance are systematically explained. By role playing group working, students learn the way to consensus agreement between multiple stakes holders for active learning.

Student learning outcomes
