[Summary of the course] The biogeochemical cycles of gases involved in environmental problems such as global warming and ozone depletion will be described and the latest research methods for estimating them will be introduced.
[Aim of the course] The aim of this lecture is to understand the role of trace gases in the earth's atmospheric environment and the cycle of trace gases from their release by natural and human activities to their disappearance through transport and reaction in the atmosphere. It is also intended to provide students of applied chemistry with knowledge and ideas that will be useful in their future research and development work toward the realization of a sustainable society.
At the end of this course, students will have following knowledge and capabilities.
1) To be able to explain the dynamics of trace gases closely related to the global environment in terms of biogeochemical cycles.
2) Understand methods for observation and global cycle analysis of greenhouse gases and volatile organic compounds.
3) Acquire up-to-date knowledge of the global atmospheric environment.
greenhouse gases, volatile organic compounds, carbon cycle, stratospheric ozone depletion
