Students will learn about the uses of resources and energy, their current status and issues, solutions of the issues, and future directions.
By the end of this course, students will be able to understand the principles and actual situation related to technologies contributing to sustainable utilization of resources and energy, and also will be able to undertake related research.

Overview of the lectures will be explained in the first class, and each lecture will be carried out with reference to its relationship with the overview. After all the lectures will be given, submission of a report related to the whole lectures will be requested.

|Class 2||Water, mineral and non-mineral resources||Understand the water circulation, water treatment and water management, together with the current status and future of mineral and non-mineral resources.|
|Class 3||Biological resources||Understand the international rules on genetic resources and the food problem, technologies for the production of biological materials and organic waste recycling.|
|Class 4||Fossil resources||Understand the optimized production and effective utilization of the derived products of mass-produced and mass-consumed fossil resource, mainly petroleum.|
|Class 5||Biofuel||Understand the concept, raw materials, and productions of biofuels.|
|Class 6||Japanese energy policy||Understand Japanese energy policy.|
|Class 7||Solar and wind energy||Understand the characteristics of solar and wind energy.|
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
