Course description and aims

This course is for students to identify the problems on the earthquake disaster management system in a particular country and to study the important aspects which should be considered in the implementation of actual disaster prevention and disaster risk mitigation projects.
Students in several groups are to formulate appropriate ODA projects proposals which a donor country should implement, on the basis of the information and documents which can be acquired through the lectures by JICA and various sources.

Student learning outcomes

From document search and lectures the students will learn the significance of disaster risk reduction for the sustainable development of the nation and region. They also learn the policy of ODA as well as roles of supporting international organizations and individual nation and then finally make project proposals of disaster prevention and mitigation considering various environments (natural, economic, social, built) in a particular country.
