This course consists of lectures and site visits led by engineers invited as part-time lecturers. All lecturers are professional engineers successful in civil engineering and environmental fields of planning, roads, hazard prevention, international projects, railroads, harbors and rivers, respectively.
Civil and environmental engineering is an integrated academic field, which consists of a lot of knowledge and skills obtained only from on-site experience. It is therefore expected that successful engineers will provide students with knowledge of contemporary subjects and skills for practical problem-solving. This course will also increase students' desire to study and provide an opportunity to consider their view of the profession.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

The instructor will provide guidance at the first class, followed by seven intensive lectures and two site visits by lecturers from off-campus. The time schedule of lectures and site visits will be determined based on availability of lecturers.

|Class 1||1st lecture : Guidance. Seven intensive lectures are given by professional engineers in the fields of planning, road, electric power, international projects, railroad, harbor and river. Also Two site visits are conducted.||Follow the instruction from each lecturer.|
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
Lecture materials will be distributed by the lecturer in each class.
Over 60 % Attendance is required.
Reports for seven lectures (8% times 7).
Attendance for two site visits (5% times 2)
