Course description and aims

This lecture explains the mathematical description and the physical meaning of the turbulence phenomena on architectural and urban engineerings based on the technique of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In order to solve the environmental and disaster problems, the simulation technique is understood and the useful information for various kind of design process is provided.

Student learning outcomes

Concerning the fluid flow and heat transfer in the buildings and city, atmospheric turbulence structures near ground are understood. The governing rule and the model formation for turbulence generated in the buldings and city are studied. Also, the practical usage of CFD technique is acquired for solving the environmental and disaster problems.

Keywords

fluid dynamics, CFD, turbulence, atmospheric dynamics, atmospheric pollution, strong and weak winds, wind resistant design, environmental problems, disaster mitigation
