Course description and aims

This course focuses on the practice of urban regeneration and regional revitalization.
At first, we focus on current issues of urban regeneration and regional revitalization in Japan.
In the latter half of this course, we focus on the planning processes and design skills of urban regeneration in practice.
Finally, we focus on some scenarios and solutions of sustainable strategy.

Student learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Understand the whole process of urban regeneration projects.
2)Review and analyze urban regeneration projects in Japan.
3)Propose some solutions of regional revitalization in Japanese historical cities.

Assessment criteria and methods

1)Students will be assessed on their understanding of urban regeneration and regional revitalization in practice, and their ability to apply them to solve problems.
2)Students' course scores are based on midterm reports(40%) and final reports(60%).
