Course description and aims

This course focuses on the knowledge to study tourism, based on community design and city and country planning. This is a continuation of "Introduction to Tourism Planning".
This course introduce the alternative tourism, tourism-based community development, green tourism, eco–tourism. This course facilitstes students'understanding of the basic issues faced by contemporary tourism.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1)understand the relationship between city planning, community developmen and tourismg;
2)understand the Tourism-based community development in Japan;
3)understand the Green-tourism and Eco-tourism in Japan;
4)understand the Issues of tourism planning in the future; and
5)explain the examples of alternative tourism.

Assessment criteria and methods

Students’ course scores are based on 2 reports (50%) and 2 presentations (50%).The instructor may fail a student if he/she repeatedly comes to class late or resubmits reports too often.
