Course description and aims

[Notice] The class is planed in September 2022 at the present. However, because of the present situation with covid_19, the schedule of the class would be delayed in February 2023 or changed to the other contents instead of tour to Kyoto and other Cities in Kansai. If you attend the class, please register it anyway and please wait for the additional information from the lecturer.

This is an intensive course to visit many historic architectures and see their characteristics on site.
It is necessary for the students who are expected to be a successful architect in the world to learn how their own architectural culture had been developed in its history.

Student learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to deepen our understanding on the characteristics of traditional Japanese architecture through visiting many important cultural properties in Kinki district.

This intensive course requires students to participate in two-day lectures and a six-day tour for the course credit.

Assessment criteria and methods

Full attendance of 6 days tour and submission of the final report are requested to the participants.

The participants are limited to 30 in this class. If the applicants are over 30, the student of architectural department has priority.

The schedule will be changed into the latter semester of academic year 2022-2023 (probably in February or March 2023), depending on the situation with colona virus. It is possible to be cancelled (actually it was cancelled in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 too). Please pay attention to the information from the lecturer.
