Course description and aims

On statically indeterminate structures, this course introduces their fundamental characteristics and several methods to analyze them.
This course aims to have students understand mechanical characteristics of high order statically indeterminate structures which takes a major part of building structural system.

Student learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students will
1) have an understanding of the nature of statically indeterminate structures,
2) be able to use the analyzing methods introduced to solve problems.

Keywords

Statically indeterminate structure, slope deflection method, moment distribution method, direct stiffness method, approximate method using D-value

Competencies that will be developed

Intercultural skills Communication skills Specialist skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills
