Course description and aims

In this course, students learn the basics for various biomaterials, such as chemical structures and their properties, synthesis methods, analysis techniques, and biological reactions, as well as acquire knowledge related to cutting-edge medical technologies.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Explain the chemical structures and properties of biomaterials as well as their synthesis methods and analysis techniques.
2) Explain biological response to biomaterials.
3) Explain medical applications of biomaterials, such as artificial organs, regenerative medicine, diagnosis and drug delivery system.
