By taking advantage of knowledge and theories students have learned, they take part in internships at overseas universities or public research laboratories, etc., students acquire the skills to perform research, solve problems, and communicate in English in a different research environment. Each student can freely choose what kind of internship to take part in, taking into consideration his/her research activities at the university.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) experience problems and contribute to solutions in the overseas environment
2) have balanced research skills to integrate the knowledge acquired at both students' laboratories and the host laboratories.
3) acquire trends in the related field
4) develop oral and written communication skills.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend a certain length of time outside of class on preparation and review (including for assignments), as specified by the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Undergraduate Learning (東京工業大学学修規程) and the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Graduate Learning (東京工業大学大学院学修規程), for each class.

Overseas trainings are part of an educational program and carefully evaluated for academic credits. An internship plan must be submitted and approved before students start the program. The internship report and presentation also must be submitted and approved by an academic supervisor and board members of overseas trainings committee members before credit can be given.
