[Summary of Lecture] In this lecture, planning of the multi-step synthesis of organic compounds will be explained.
[The aim of the lecture] In the synthesis of complex organic compounds, it is important to design synthetic strategy consist of multiple reactions. In this lecture, at first students understand the relative merits of the diversity of the synthesis method. Based on the knowledge, next students understand the points to be aware of when considering the efficient synthesis method. That basis, students understand the technique to solve each problems. In particular, we will discuss methods for construction of the quaternary carbon. Based on the knowledge, students cultivate the ability to develop a synthetic strategy of relatively simple linear organic compounds.
By course of this lecture, to acquire the following capabilities.
(1) Ability to explain the relative merits of the multi-step synthesis.
(2) Ability to understand the advantages of chemoselective reaction in the multi-stage synthesis.
(3) Ability to explain the structure to make it difficult to synthesize.
(4) Ability to explain about the quaternary carbon construction method.
(5) Ability to design synthesis strategy of simple linear compounds
Efficiency of organic synthesis, construction of skeleton, transformation of functional groups, carbonyl group
✔ Specialist skills | Intercultural skills | Communication skills | Critical thinking skills | ✔ Practical and/or problem-solving skills |
In this lecture, it is discussed the diversity of merit of each synthetic schemes. In addition, we focus on organic synthesis to use the carbonyl group, to understand the advantages and disadvantages of its synthesis. Further, students understand the synthetically difficult structure. In addition, methods for the synthesis of the quaternary carbon center will be explained. In the last day, practice problems and interpretation of them will be carried out to confirm the level of understanding.
