Course description and aims

[Summary of the lecture] In this lecture and Advanced Course of Polymer Chemistry B (CAP.P468) in 4Q, the fundamentals of polymer syntheses, polymer reactions, polymeric materials, and functional polymers will be explained in English. In addition, some of recently advanced subjects in the related research fields are introduced.
[Aim of the lecture] Students understand the synthetic methods of target polymers and the functions of synthetic polymers.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students acquire the following ability:
(1) Ability to explain the fundamentals of polymer syntheses, polymer reactions, and functional polymers.
(2) Ability to explain the synthetic methods of target polymers.
(3) Ability to explain the functions of synthetic polymers.

Keywords

polymer synthesis, polymer reactions, functional polymers, characterization, polymer assembly, material science.

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

In each class, professors teach the fundamentals and frontier researches in each research field of polymer chemistry. Practice problems will be frequently carried out to confirm the level of understanding.
