This course is mainly targeted at graduate students in the Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology. Students acquire specialized knowledge in polymer chemistry, especially polymer reactions. In this course targeted at students who have already taken basic courses related to organic chemistry and polymer chemistry, the instructor lectures about specialized knowledge and cutting edge research related to polymer reactions.
Students get an understanding of specialized knowledge and cutting edge research related to polymer reactions through this course, thereby acquiring continuous knowledge stretching from the basics to the expert level.
Students will be able to do the following by taking this course.
1) understand and explain the different types and features of polymer reactions from the perspective of changes in polymerization degree.
2) explain cutting edge functionalization of polymer reactions using click reactions, etc.
3) explain cutting edge special structure polymer synthesis that uses polymer reactions.
Polymer reactions, Cross-linking reactions, Click reactions, Polymer architectures
✔ Specialist skills | Intercultural skills | Communication skills | Critical thinking skills | ✔ Practical and/or problem-solving skills |
At the beginning of each class, solutions to exercise problems that were assigned during the previous class are reviewed. The detailed contents of the classes will be shown using blackboards or powerpoint slides on a projector. Towards the end of class, students are given exercise problems related to the lecture given that day to solve.
