[Summary of the lecture] After relationships between environmental issues and human societies are overviewed, atmospheric issues (e.g., global warming and regional air pollution) are taken up as examples. Chemical budget/processes related to these issues and the basics of the observational methods are illustrated. Key observations in the field and from satellites are introduced, which have improved our understandings of the state of the atmosphere and the relevant processes.
[Aim of the lecture] To understand the natural cycles of environmental chemical substances and artificial effects on them is essential for students in applied chemistry. To learn cutting-edge technologies used in environmental chemistry and geochemistry is also useful for students. The purpose of this course is to find the relation own study theme and chemical substances cycles and/or cutting-edge technologies introduced.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Understand the significance of chemical perspectives when addressing environmental issues
2) Explain chemical budget/processes related to the atmospheric issues
3) Acquire the knowledge of state-of-the-science methodologies for observations and their deliverables
Atmospheric environment, Chemical budget, Chemical processes, Observational methods
