This course deals with the physical properties of polymer solids. After describing the characteristics of structures and physical properties of solid polymers and the measurement methods, the correlation between structure and physical properties is discussed for bulk polymers.
The physical properties of solid polymers are related to their structure and molecular movements and form an important field of polymer science. Bulk polymers have countless applications, and understanding their physical properties based on the structures is important from an industry perspective.
At the end of this course, students will be able to
1) Explain the characteristics of solid polymer properties.
2) Select suitable measurement methods to measure the properties and structures of solid polymers.
3) Have an understanding of the correlation between the properties and structures for solid polymers.
solid polymers, polymer structures, polymer structure analysis, physical properties of polymers
✔ Specialist skills | Intercultural skills | Communication skills | Critical thinking skills | Practical and/or problem-solving skills |
Prior to attending class, students must get basic knowledge on the topics and have prepared the answer for the questions to help to present the solutions to each issue. Thus, they are strongly recommended to find and read the related chapters (or sections) in one of the reference books listed below. To cultivate a solid understanding of the lecture content and the skills to apply it, exercises will be assigned as necessary.
