[Course description]
The instructor in this course will lecture on the role of Chemical Science and Technology for the Environment in order to solve modern environmental issues. The instructor will first explain the present and future of modern environmental issues, the natural environment, and resource energy. Building on that background, the instructor will explain a chemistry approach to environmental issues.
[Course aims] Encourage understanding of the following specific items.
1) Improving the natural environment, 2) Securing resources and energy, 3) Environmental chemistry and science approach (green chemistry) to material production, and 4) the appropriate role for chemistry in waste processing
Students will acquire the following skills from taking this course.
1) The ability to understand modern environmental issues from a chemistry standpoint
2) The ability to understand the role of chemistry for solving environmental problems
3) The ability to propose solving techniques for environmental problems through a variety of chemistry approaches
